DDR3 SDRAM is supported by the latest processors and chipsets, including the Intel Core i7 series, AMD’s AM3 Phenom processors and AMD’s latest embedded enterprise chipsets. DDR3 modules are not pin-compatible with older generation modules and have alignment notches that prevent them from being plugged into incompatible sockets.
