Digi AnyWhereUSB/14 – USB-over-IP Hub
The Digi AnyWhereUSB/14 is part of the Digi AnyWhereUSB product family. These are network-attached USB hubs that connect USB peripherals to a PC over a local area network. The AnywhereUSB TS model also adds four RS-232 serial ports, allowing USB and serial ports to be combined over the same network connection. By moving the host PC to a remote location, smaller workstations become possible, allowing use without a local PC in kiosks, ATMs, restaurant kitchens, production lines, or other awkward or insecure areas where a local PC is not practical.
AnywhereUSB is a USB hub connected to the network. Combining Digi’s patented RealPort® USB and RealPort® COM Port Redirector technologies, AnywhereUSB connects USB and serial devices anywhere on a wired or wireless LAN, while eliminating the need for locally connected host PCs. By moving the host PC to a remote location, smaller workstations become possible, allowing deployment without a local PC in kiosks, ATMs, restaurant kitchens, production lines, or any hostile or insecure area where a local PC is not practical.
Easy plug-and-play installation
Digi Anywhere USB/2, Digi Anywhere USB/5 and Digi Anywhere USB/14 offer two, five and 14 USB ports, respectively, providing the same plug-and-play user experience as onboard USB ports. AnywhereUSB TS also adds four RS-232 serial ports with the same transparency. Software drivers are loaded onto a host PC or server, allowing remote devices to communicate with the host without modifying existing application software. Peripherals can be centrally managed and monitored from a remote server or PC via an IP address.
AnywhereUSB is compatible with bulk or interrupt USB devices such as barcode scanners, printers, fingerprint scanners, mice, pole displays, card readers, flash drives, security keys and more. It is a great solution for networked USB or serial devices in VMware and Microsoft virtualized environments. Watchport/V3 USB camera, Watchport® sensors and Edgeport® USB-to-serial converters are also fully compatible with AnywhereUSB.7
