MXC-2300CD-3E1 – Modular Embedded Systems for Industrial Automation

The MXC-2300CD-3E1 is a professional modular embedded computer system with impressive computing power. Compared to the previous models, the fanless computers with Intel Atom processor E3845 feature powerful graphics of Intel Gen7 HD technology. The MXC-2300 series convinces with an outstanding CPU performance as well as with its minimal power dissipation. The use of the isolated dual-port CANbus and the presence of extensive digital I/Os ensures optimal interaction between the microprocessor and external devices. A unique expansion principle with three PCI/PCIe expansion slots to accommodate different I/O cards allows extensive expansions. Thus, the intelligent embedded computers of the MXC-2300 series offer high flexibility and reliability for solutions in industrial automation. The cost-efficient computers are particularly suitable for multi-screen applications and computer-intensive image processing. Besides intelligent transport systems, various applications in facility management and automation technology are seen as ideal fields of application.

Powerful processor and various connection options

With four cores, the latest Intel Atom processor E3845 operates with a clock speed of 1.91 GHz as the CPU of the system, supplemented by a maximum of 8 GB RAM, distributed on two sockets for 4 GB DDR3L SODIMM each. Various I/O interfaces, such as three PCI/PCIe expansion slots and a Mini-PCI socket, allow configurable applications and additional functions. With five USB ports, four additional COM ports and two additional Intel Gigabit Ethernet ports with teaming function, there is a wide range of interfaces for input and output. As serial connection the system has two programmable ports RS-232/422/485 and further two ports RS-232. 16 isolated digital inputs and 16 isolated digital outputs are integrated as addition. A USIM socket is available for 3D communication. The interfaces are completed by an audio interface. A 2.5 inch HDD or SSD drive can be connected to the embedded computer via a SATA-II port as mass storage. A type II CF socket is provided for the connection of a Compact Flash card. According to the order, the drives are configured before delivery of the system. The computers are supplied via a wide range input from 9 VDC to 32 VDC. An external 100 W power supply unit can also be supplied on request. If a separate cooling of the computer is required, a fan module is optionally installed.

High load capacity and safety

The computers of the professional MXC-2300 series operate at a standard operating temperature between 0 °C and 50 °C. If an industrial SSD drive or Compact Flash card is used, the temperature range can be extended from -20 °C to 70 °C. The vibration of the so equipped computer can be up to 5 G in all three axes and the possible shock load up to 50 G. If an HDD drive is used, only a vibration resistance of up to 0.5 G is given. All versions have ESD protection up to +/- 4 kV on contact and +/- 8 kV over the air. The system complies with EMC regulations (according to CE and FCC Class A) and complies with UL/cUL and CB regulations for safety.
